Sally Buchanan, 'Encounter Ink' Residency at BAR Gallery

Sally works as a multimedia artist. She studied Fine Art at Byam Shaw and graduated from St Martins in 2007. Her work crosses genres and her projects reflect and encompass wide-ranging interests from environmental issues to neuroscience and from art as medicine to Jungian thought. "I enjoy the challenge of working in whatever media the project at hand requires."

BAR Gallery Willesden

Saturday 29th March 2014 - Thursday 10th April 2014
Wednesday to Saturday, 10am to 6pm

Last year (2013) whilst working as an Artist in Residence at Electric House she discovered a new technique using textile threads to trace out energy pathways.

‘This current work phase is a serious intuitive response, a reaction to the perceived limits of my own surroundings. It's literally a bodily expression of a journey to the edge of my own limits of existence - limits of physical endurance and patience- the limits of living in an ever crowded metropolis. I try to push the media - as far as I can take it - right over the edge and back again if possible. I am abusing line and exploring the boundaries of a (confined) space, trying to point to beyond.’

You can see Sally at work on her current installation ‘Encounter Ink’ over the couple of weeks. Sally will be also presenting the project at the opening on Wednesday 9th April.
